Artcho - A Journey to Haiti
This collection consists of a wide spectrum of styles from primitive to impressionist to abstract all the while depicting the beauty of Haiti through the eyes of these artists.
Tiga (1935-2006) – Born Jean-Claude Garoute, he was a co-founder of the “Saint Soleil” movement. He often uses a combination of ink and acid to create his abstract pieces. He is considered one of the greatest artists who shaped the world of art in Haiti.
Jean Claude Legagnear (1947-) - In 1975, Legagneur founded the “Ecole de Beaute” in Haiti with Jean-Rene Jerome and Bernard Sejourne.
Andre-Pierre (1914-2005) - Pierre’s career dates back more than 50 years. He paints to honor the voodoo gods, and often writes the names of the gods he is depicting or honoring in his paintings.
